Hardware Engineer. As a Hardware Engineer you will work with senior engineers in investigating, designing, developing, testing and/or maintaining features and circuits that are part of one of Sunrise Telecom’s handheld or portable test instruments. These instruments are hand-held and portable test equipment that are used worldwide by major carriers and service providers to install, maintain, and diagnose the telecommunications network, and range from the Scalable Test Toolkit (STT) to the recently released Home Test Toolkit (HTT).

In this position, course work in board-level circuit design, FPGA design, hardware processes and lifecycles is required. Practical (intern or co-op) or applied hardware design work experience is highly desired, including VHDL programming skills; product life cycle execution: definition, simulation, design, verification and test prototyping, debugging, qualification, release to production, etc.; experience with embedded processors and circuits; experience with technologies required for developing internet connected devices. The position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and test and troubleshoot electrical circuit boards or FPGAs that conform to requirements, architecture, industry standards, and provides for reuse and maintainability.
  • Implement, test, and deliver printed circuit boards that meet requirements with high quality.
A degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree is required. A working knowledge of telecommunications, networks, or embedded processors is also required. Mechanical Engineer I. The Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for the support, design, and analysis of new and/or existing mechanical hardware as part of an engineering team. Will work closely with electrical engineers and industrial designers to develop package designs for Sunrise Telecom's handheld and portable test instruments. Production

Sr. Buyer/Planner. The Sr. Buyer/Planner must be flexible to changes in activities and workload by using good judgment and effective work practices and behaviors to maintain customer satisfaction. Responsible for all aspects of materials readiness in support of production and planning. This encompasses but is not limited to, item master control, Bill of Material integrity, pre-production material pipeline, transfer to production and certain aspects of the project schedule pertaining to successful introduction / ramp. In addition, role will contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of new product introduction procedures and processes, along with developing Strategic Plans in support of the business. Ability to handle complex issues with little supervision, and take on small projects with limited understanding to the scope of work. This position reports to the Director of Materials. Primary Duties:

  • Leverages other TNL Teams and CM teams to ensure Supply Chain is adequate for each design/phase.
  • Works closely with engineering team to ensure BOMS are released in a timely and controlled manner.
  • Owns the item master, ensuring all fields of the item master are complete and correctly configured.
  • Owns the integrity of the BOM in conjunction with Product Engineering, ensuring that all required components of the BOM are in place and properly structured prior to production release.
  • Evaluates and identifies "Risk Buy" parts for management's approval to procure.
  • Performs BOM health scrubs on PCBAs, Box Level Mechanicals highlighting and escalating shortages, component obsolescence issues, ROHS compliance, Sole / Single sourcing issues etc.
  • Generates preliminary Costed BOMs and communicate projections across the Business / Eng. Teams.
  • Co-ordinates and maintains the NPI forecasts (both box and board) with the Ops. PM and Demand Planning Manager to ensure the integrity of the NPI demand line, from engineering build / prototype, through pilot, pre-production ramp, and production readiness release.
  • Responsible for insuring that NPI work orders are in line with the Project Plan and to see that all aspects of this process are fulfilled.
  • Responsible for the disposition of ECOs, including the assignment of quantity and costs, physical disposition of scrap material and initiation of replacement/additional material.
  • Responsible for the correct transactional/physical movement of engineering purchased material.
  • Ownership of all the material associated with proto/pilot builds as well as ensuring that material is forecasted and available in the pipeline for the production ramp plan.
  • Works with the Production Control Manager to ensure the MRP accurately reflects the proper requirements / costs and seeing that execution is taking place on the daily and weekly actions.
  • Responsible for all coordinating prototype and pilot PCBA delivery, working with identified CM partners, communicating schedules, resolving shortages with the assistance of the other Buyers.
  • Responsible for the transition to production release. Insuring that all data elements of the production release ECO are accurate and correctly adjusted in the item master, BOMs are accurate, and documentation is available and complete.
  • Responsible for communicating any/all exceptions -material not on order, late deliveries, all process problems which delay cycle time, or BOM issues that may negatively impact product release schedules.
  • Monitors purchasing cost and report findings to Materials management.
  • Participates when needed in quarterly cost roll activity.
  • Maintains metrics measuring prototype cycle time, aged work orders, invoice discrepancies.
  • Writes and distributes a status report on an as needed basis.

Must have working knowledge of low-volume, high mix manufacturing, inventory control techniques, Lean Six Sigma. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word applications. Must have fundamental understanding of Project Management Methodologies and use of MS Project to create timelines. Must be proficient in the use of ERP and Agile databases. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have excellent problem solving and analytical skill. Must have strong negotiation skills. Must have good team building abilities, able to encourage people to work together with a positive "Can Do Attitude". Must be able to influence and lead functional teams to make decisions that are in the best interest of the company. Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred. APICS certification preferred. Must have minimum 10 years of production planning for multi-level, highly configurable products. Must have minimum 5 years of direct demand management experience. This hand-held and portable test equipment is used worldwide by major carriers and service providers to install, maintain, and diagnose the telecommunications network. You will work in support of senior engineering staff in various aspects of manufacturing, quality, reliability, and environmental compliance (RoHS).
