Global Services Ruby Programmer. (Location: San Jose, CA)

The Global Services Ruby Programmer position will be located in the San Jose area and will be primarily responsible for working on Sunrise Telecom’s cutting edge applications. Developing, implementing and serving our customers remotely as well as the occasional site visit to their facilities.

This position involves working effectively with Global Services, Marketing, and Sales teams to support both pre & post-sales development & deployment of Sunrise’s solutions. All candidates must have a proven networking background and demonstrated capability to rapidly learn and assimilate new networking technologies as our customers require. This candidate must be self-driven, comfortable with multi-tasking, able to effectively set customer expectations, complete tasks with little or no supervision and perform quality work under the pressure of tight customer timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Linux Administration  (network configuration, IP tables)
• MySQL Administration (Master/Slave configuration, Backup systems)
• Scripting in any of the following :Ruby, PHP, Perl, Bash
• SQL
• Networking TCP/IP & UDP/IP (FTP, HTTP, ssh, VPN both PPTP & L2TP)
• Talk to customers to collect requirements and ability to debug issues
• Perform installation of servers with Proprietary applications

Requirements:

• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
• Experience of 2-5 years
• Must be willing to travel
• Good Verbal & Written Communication Skills
• Good understanding of Security and Firewalls, CATV
• Programming experience - specifically in Ruby will be a significant plus
• Great Personality
• Experience with wireshark
