Senior Software Engineer. (Location: San Jose, CA)

Sunrise Telecom is looking for a bright individual who can take direction and drive results with limited supervision. The successful candidate will be a key member of an engineering team whose primary responsibilities include the design and implementation of next generation test and measurement equipments built upon Linux. Extensive experience with Linux, TCP/IP, Ethernet and Transport is required. An understanding of networking and telecommunications principles is also strongly desired. The development team is globally dispersed, so ability to work and communicate effectively with different cultures in different time zones is a must.

Responsibilities:

• Design, development and maintenance of test and measurement equipment
• Help the Sunrise development team to achieve its goals for software delivery
• Work with Product Manager to determine requirements
• Estimate design and development activities
• Communicate status against planned milestones
• Researches, evaluates and recommends of SW architecture components
• Development Kernel device driver for the all active platforms
• Maintain all legacy products

Requirements for position (experience, skill, education):

• Experience in embedded development system, including device drivers
• Must have experience working with Linux or another real-time operating system
• Must have Data / Telecommunication background
• Must have Design and development experience with Layer 2 or Layer 3 networks protocols
• Experience with Transport technologies such as SDH/SONET, and OTN
• Strong debugging skills
• Expert C/C++ programming skills. Python, JAVA, and XML programming skills a plus
• Experience with software version management tools such as SVN, CVS
• Experience with defect tracking tools like Bugzilla
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Strong work ethic and technical leadership skills
• Motivated team player with the ability to learn quickly
• Must be an analytical thinker with a positive and friendly attitude
• Must have the ability to work well in a dynamic, fast changing environment
• Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision
• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, 10+ years experience is require
