Sunrise Telecom - North America Sales / Application Engineer

North America Sales/Application Engineer. (Location: San Jose, CA)

Sunrise Telecom Sales/Applications Engineers are the primary technical resource for the field sales force. Sales Engineers are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for our products. The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. He or she must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development and delivery of product demonstrations
  • Responsible for representing the product to customers and at events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Able to convey customer requirements to Product Management teams
  • Able to travel regularly throughout sales territory
  • Perform demonstrations for the field sales team
  • Educate the sales team to become proficient in performing their own demos
  • Educate the team to position products
  • Work with marketing to create/support demand creation programs
  • Responsible for technical sales support for major telecom accounts
  • Provide telephone, email, and on-site technical support for Sunrise's direct sales people, sales representatives, and major customers
  • Provide accurate and timely feedback on customer requirements, performance of Sunrise's products and desired features to Sunrise's marketing organization
  • Lead field trials and lab evaluations of Sunrise's products with major customers
  • Develop long-term consultative relationships with appropriate individuals within the customer's organization
  • Develop and maintain superior knowledge of Sunrise Telecom's products, core technologies and future direction, regularly present this material to major customers

Requirements:

  • Self-motivated with a proven track record in telecom system sales and knowledge of technology.
  • Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base.
  • Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports.
  • Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Must be prepared for extensive travel.
  • 3-5+ years relevant experience in telecom sales/application engineering Experience and familiarity with test and measurement products and line of business a plus.
  • Knowledge of the following technologies: Carrier Ethernet, Ethernet OA&M, optical transport, SONET, PDH, optical testing, DSL, copper cable testing, and service assurance is required.
