Hardware

Senior Hardware Engineer. This person will be a key member of Sunrise Telecom's core design team for handheld and portable test equipment. The Senior Hardware Engineer will use in-depth knowledge and experience in digital circuit board design and FPGA design to develop state-of-the-art designs that meet market needs, with an emphasis on compact, low-to-moderate cost, low-power applications. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and require minimal supervision. Design responsibilities include design of complex, multi-million gate FPGAs (Xilinx and Altera); logical and physical synthesis; logic simulation; and an understanding of static timing analysis and floor planning techniques. The qualified candidate will be knowledgeable in Verilog and/or VHDL, industry-standard simulators (ModelSim), FPGA Synthesis tools (Synplicity, ISE, Quartus), and in design flows starting from a high-level specification through gate-level netlist. Additionally, candidate should be knowledgeable in board design having experience with industry standard tools such as ORCAD schematic capture. Requirements for position: . Must be skilled at analyzing design requirements . Must have a proven track record in the design and test of digital circuits and FPGAs for telecommunication applications . Must be able to guide embedded firmware engineers in implementing code to control digital hardware . Must be a hands-on person who knows how to use test equipment and troubleshoot complicated, elusive problems and circuits . Must have proven track record of quality products developed in short time frame schedules . Must understand how to design for manufacturability . Must be a good team player as well as someone who can take ownership of their own and possibly others designs independently . Project Engineer. The Project Engineer will prepare and track project schedules and milestones, and will report on project performance and metrics. Will work closely with Engineering functional managers to plan new projects. Together with those functional managers will prepare detailed project schedules; regularly collect status data; maintain project schedules; analyze schedule data and advise Directors and the VP of Engineering on project issues and status; track deliverables and provide reports on their status; prepare reports on project metrics. Mechanical

Mechanical Engineer I. The Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for the support, design, and analysis of new and/or existing mechanical hardware as part of an engineering team. Will work closely with electrical engineers and industrial designers to develop package designs for Sunrise Telecom's handheld and portable test instruments. These instruments are hand-held and portable test equipment that are used worldwide by major carriers and service providers to install, maintain, and diagnose the telecommunications network, and range from the Scalable Test Toolkit (STT) to the recently released Home Test Toolkit (HTT). New product design will include various types of analysis, mechanical packaging of electronics, CAD concept model generation, and creation of program metrics. Interaction with internal customers and suppliers will occur depending upon the nature of the project - this may include travel to other sites or suppliers.

Requirements for position:

  • Bachelor of Science or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 0-2 year experience in mechanical design - course related design will be considered as experience.
  • Experience in the use of Pro/E CAD tool.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manipulate several tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Mechanical Engineer II. The Mechanical Engineer II will develop chassis/package designs for Sunrise Telecom's handheld and portable test equipment. Will work closely with management, marketing, and other engineers to design industry-leading handheld and portable test equipment for telecommunications, and will act as liaison between engineering and manufacturing on mechanical design issues. Will consult with electronic hard ware engineering, marketing, production, sales, and customers to establish design concepts. Will evaluate design ideas based on factors such as design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and specifications, and then integrates findings and concepts into design ideas. Will prepare and/or coordinate preparation of working drawings from sketches and design specifications. Will present the design to Marketing and Engineering management and discuss needs for modification and change. Will prepare designs, and will work with offshore manufacturing to build models and/or mock-ups, obtain internal approvals, and shepherd the design through the development, prototype, pilot, and production processes. Responsibilities of this position will include, but will not be limited to: design and development of new products, as well as modifications to existing products; communication with vendors and suppliers; implementing designs into production; material selection; standards compliance (UL, CE, etc.); safety reviews; using design development tools and techniques; Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Inspection; CAD and 3D Design tools.

Must have experience in the most of the following areas: plastic injection molding; die-cast molding; electronic packaging; stamping; CNC; manufacturing processes; CAD (Pro E preferred); geometric tolerancing; thermal analysis; design for assembly/manufacturability/ quality; and experience with off-shore sourced products. Must have B.S.M.E. or equivalent plus 3 or more years experience in commercial/industrial product design and development. Must be proficient in 2Dand 3D CAD programs, preferably with Pro E. Must be able to perform engineering analysis of a new product design. Must have specialized knowledge of handheld and portable devices, test equipment, and/or scientific instruments. Must have demonstrated ability to build consensus with team members, while being open and responsive to design management. Must be able to work with others as part of the product development process. Must have a design experience with injection molded plastics and die-cast metals, as well as electronic instrument design experience. Must be ale to balance design ownership with realities of manufacturability and engineering. Must have strong communication and presentation skills.Ability to speak Mandarin (as well as English) is a plus. Must be able to communicate easily with sketches and electronic presentation tools. Customer Service

RF Repair Technician. The Repair Technician will work as a member in the service team in performing upgrade, repair and calibration on broadband cable TV products such as 1.5 GHz spectrum analyzer, DOCSIS cable modem system analyzer, RF multiplexer switches. Major responsibilities include:

  • Verify problem reported and document findings on field returned products.
  • Troubleshoot, identify failure mode and repair to component level and document relevant repair actions in details to facilitate failure analysis.
  • Perform firmware and software upgrade.
  • Evaluate and prepare cost estimates on products returned for upgrade and/or repair.
  • Setup and perform board level, subassembly, system and calibration tests. Interpret test results ensuring products being tested meet pertaining specifications.
  • Work closely with Customer Service Representatives in reporting anomaly observed during troubleshooting.
  • Provide support to technical support team and/or customer on product service issues.
  • Maintain test fixtures, test equipment and calibration stations in good working conditions.

Requirements:

  • Solid knowledge, experience in troubleshooting digital QAM 256 modem, RF amplifier, tuner, mixer, switch circuitry in sub-assembly and component level, performing RF and IF tuning.
  • Fine pitch soldering skill on SMT digital and RF/IF components.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks on schedule, be flexible in accommodating shifting priorities.
  • A team player and able to work in cross-functional environment.
  • Be organized and detail oriented.
  • 4 years relevant experience in RF and/or CATV product repair experience.
  • ASEE or equivalent degree.

Will perform tuning and quality control (testing) procedures for various components and PCA's for RF and digital modules. Will perform debug and repair of spectrum analyzer products. The successful candidate will have experience in most of the following areas: CATV (telecommunications a plus), equipment measurement usage, and background in RF and mixed signal. Work in the manufacturing engineering team to build RF CATV test and monitoring equipment manufacture as it relates to digital video such as MPEG, HFC networks QAM 64-256, and multiplexers. Director of Tax and Treasury.  This position is for an experienced strategic thinker as well as an individual contributor who is able to make a difference. Significant contribution with review of daily compliance, detailed modeling and planning. A mentor, team player and professional resource with direct responsibility for ensuring all tax compliance is filed timely and accurately. Additionally this individual will need to continually update their professional and technical expertise as well as the expertise of a senior tax analyst and inform management of legislative and industry developments.   • Assist with the coordination and management of tax audits and defense of positions, responsibilities involving coordination and management of all tax filings.
  • Various corporate projects and initiatives, cash flow forecast, manage company investments, balance sheet forecast, insurance and risk management, subsidiary capitalization, repatriation and funding and financing strategies.
  • Treasury experience with cash management and planning, working with banks, line of credit and letters of credit.

BS and/or MS degree in accounting or finance with 8 to 10 years experience in tax required, combining corporate tax/treasury department and big 4 public accounting experience. CPA certification and/or master in taxation/MBA, leader, mentor, self starter, team player, energetic and aggressive, must possess a thorough working knowledge of FAS109 and FIN 48, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to get into the details of an accounting system and reconcile accounts, clear understanding of accounting systems.
