GSM Testing
GSM technology dominates the wireless phone services as the technology of choice in most countries around the world. This fast growing market demands a real challenge to network installation and maintenance. GPRS is one step further in an effort to provide reliable and effective data service over GSM network. The SunSet
MTT provides a rich set of features in GSM/GPRS service verifications including GSM voice monitoring, TRAU testing, Abis Protocol testing and GPRS statistic analysis.

With GSM options, it makes easy for you to quickly identify type of GSM traffic in each sub channel at a glance and monitor voice traffic in both directions (uplink and downlink) simultaneously. This helps to identity the quality of voice services quickly. It supports both Full rate (FR), Enhanced Full Rate (EFR), and Half rate (HR) decoding according to GSM standards. It does not provide only voice decode, but also the statistics to help identify where the problem occurs. The SunSet also provides voice frequency measurement to listen to standard 64K voice channels in both directions.
TRAU (Transcoder/Rate Adaptor Unit) is required in GSM network to convert between the 16K GSM voice signal and standard 64K voice channel in the fixed-line telephone. Testing TRAU is critical to ensure the quality of call between GSM mobiles and fixed line telephone. This test can be accompliced easily with the use of SunSet GSM TRAU testing. It generates TRAU traffic into the network and measure the returned TRAU signal in quantitative number such as Bit error rate test.
For advanced user, GSM Abis protocol testing helps for troubleshooting the cellular network by providing the ability to capture and verifying GSM signaling protocol on both uplink and downlink simultaneously. It displays all HEX and decodes the trace nicely in such as a small unit like SunSet.
GPRS statistics is one of advanced feature to verify this wireless data service. With channel monitoring, it is easy to identify where GPRS channels are on Abis link. It can run statistic analysis on both signaling and packet data channels of Abis and Gb interface.
With these tools available, you can equip your team with one of the "best in class" GSM/GPRS handheld analyzer in the market.
