Testing and Troubleshooting DOCSIS Cable Modem Systems

To view the seminar you will need a 56K connection or better, a sound board, speakers and a Real Media Player Version G2, 7.0 or better. If you don't have a copy of either of these Real Media Players you can download a free copy by clicking below. If you don't know if the computer you are using has the player, try the link anyway and if you don't have the right player a dialog box will tell you.

This seminar lasts about 17 minutes and covers the basics of DOCSIS cable modem systems, testing the return path for cable modem signals, testing and troubleshooting both the downstream and upstream digital signals, and special considerations for cable modems. If you want to move back or forth in the seminar you can use the slider control at the top of the window to move anywhere in the seminar.

If you find you are having trouble viewing the seminar, or the audio breaks up periodically then you are experiencing heavy Internet traffic. You can try again later or you can download the entire Real Media file and play it locally from your hard drive. The download file is zipped so you will need a program such as Winzip to decompress it.

To play the file locally open the file using your unzipping program and extract all the files to a new folder. Run your Real Player by using the Start menu and click file and open. Select the folder where you extracted the file and run cablemodemsem.smil.
