Sunrise Telecom, a provider of test and measurement solutions for telecom, wireless and cable networks, announced the release of CM2800, a high-resolution, upstream and downstream sweep system designed to analyze triple-play services and optimize the use of the crowded upstream spectrum for emerging DOCSIS 3.0 services.
Termed as the first in the industry, Sunrise Telecom’s (News - Alert) CM2800 allows technicians to identify even small impairments in network performance, officials said.
“The demand for residential and small business triple-play services is putting enormous pressure on MSOs to maximize their upstream capacity for DOCSIS 3.0 services,” saidBahaa Moukadam ( News - Alert), Sunrise Telecom’s CEO, in a statement. “The CM2800 enables MSOs to optimize the upstream spectrum, deliver reliable service and ensure enhanced customer experience.”
Experts say when bandwidth comes at a premium, line impairments must be kept to a minimum. One of challenges associated with DOCSIS 3.0 is upstream channel bonding. The CM2800 allows field technicians to quickly monitor and diagnose issues on both upstream and downstream channels, ensuring no critical voice, data, or video service disruptions occur.
The high resolution, non-interfering downstream sweep features ensure that the network is operating at the levels and frequency responses required to deliver reliable, distortion-free services.
Fast 5 to 200 MHz upstream sweep, compatible with the CaLan upstream sweep function, allows one person to test the full frequency span of return lasers with a single instrument, significantly lowering CAPEX for existing CaLan customers, company officials said.
Sunrise Telecom's CM2800 helps speeds plant maintenance, reduce outages and increase quality of service. It enables service providers to ensure that service level agreements stay enforced and subscribers are satisfied with the quality of service delivered.
Featuring a large, color touch screen, the CM2800 provides an exceptional graphics display that simplifies interpretation and analysis of data.
The CM2800 interfaces with Sunrise Telecom realGATE Broadband Testing Management Tool, a comprehensive Web-based management system for managing assets, test results and the work force. realGATE centralizes current and historical information allowing users to isolate problems quickly and to detect variations in the system.
The CM2800 will debut at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo Oct. 28 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, company officials said.
Both the CM2800 and the CM2800E, the European model, are immediately available from Sunrise Telecom. The CM2800 supports DOCSIS and Annex B and C. The CM2800E supports DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS and Annex A, B and C.
Sunrise Telecom recently released an enhanced version of RealWORX WEB, a 24/7 RF monitoring system for CATV and broadband communications services, TMCnet reported. RealWORX Web performance verification system was designed to allow operators to monitor return ingress levels, analog signal performance, as well as Quadrature Amplitude Modulation performance and statistics from many nodes using any browser interface, officials said.
