Sunrise Telecom, a dealer in test and measurement solutions for telecom, cable and wireless networks, has expanded the capabilities of the STT 40G by adding 43G differential phase shift keying “DPSK” modulation to it. This will enable field network equipment manufacturer and communications service providers install and verify long haul network equipment.
According to the company, the versatile and powerful STT 40G takes their Scalable Test Toolkit “STT” platform to a new level; as a test and measurement solution for high speed transport networks such as 43G OTN (OTU3) and 40G SDH/SONET (STM-256/OC-768).
Available with a commanding set of features in a single, compact, easy to use, and cost effective unit, the STT 40G can be used independently or combined with other test modules to enhance its application, taking advantage of its bidirectional 10.7/10G drop and insert port.
In addition, it offers revolutionary and cost-effective stand-alone mode in remote or local environments, allowing test modules to operate at 100 percent of their capabilities and features, even when removed from the STT platform.
Officials with Sunrise Telecom (News - Alert) said that with the explosive growth in mobile video, the network core must be upgraded to 40G and 43G. In order to do this cost-effectively, communications service providers are moving toward new modulation schemes for 43G, such as DPSK, which enables them to deploy 40G using the existing long haul infrastructure. This reduces CapEX and OpEX and minimizes the effort to upgrade from 10G to 40G.
The STT 40G now offers 43G DPSK modulation with tunable transmitter for OTN Network Element client and line side field verification. The tunable transmitter in the test set allows the user to verify each channel of the C-band DWDM network, ensuring reliable, error-free service. With one of the best user-interfaces and helpful mapping tools for this complicated technology, the STT 40G helps technicians simplify and shorten the installation and verification process.
