This course is designed to train network technicians and engineers how to test and maintain optical and electrical networks using any of the following test sets: The SunSet OCx, SunSet T1, SunSet T3, and SunSet 10G. The course covers the underlying technology, test set operation, and hand-on laboratories. The three days of course offering can be taken sequentially for complete training of T-carrier, SONET, and ATM network testing. The three days can also be broken into one or two day courses to meet an individuals network responsibilities.

Pre-requisites
A basic understanding of telephony and PSTN architecture
Familiarity with the concept of a digital DS-0 voice channel
Basic understanding of transport media (twisted pair, coax, optical fiber)
Some familiarity with broadband access technologies (DSL, DLC, ISDN)
Basic telephone system terminology and acronyms (CO, MDF, CPE, IW)

Test for error-free operation
Analysis and troubleshooting within the services and applications used, internetworking.
SVC signaling tests
Services: ILMI, LANE, MPOA, etc.
Determining system loading and traffic profile
